Dictionary Adds New Meanings
Cleveland - (Around The Weird) -- Coming in
May is the latest edition of Webster's New World Dictionary.
It brings with it 58 new entries and 20 new senses of existing
words. One example of which is "wedgie."
The new edition
defines it as follows: noun. a prank in which the victim's
undershorts are jerked upward so as to become wedged between
the buttocks.
Said Editor in Chief Michael Agnes of the recent addition," It
never really entered the mainstream until the '90's. It
broke out of high school and, boy- if you don't know what
it is; you're absolutely at a loss." Other new entries include
Al Qaeda, irritable bowel syndrome, blog, partial-birth
abortion, and cargo pants.
